Learn to Dance Salsa

Salsa is one of the most popular social dances we teach.
Salsa is fast and fun and is danced to lively Latin music.

Whether this evolving dance style got its name from musicians shouting “Salsa!” as they played or from record producers who wanted to market their artists as “hot and spicy,” salsa is an energetic dance form with complex beginnings. Salsa music relies on complex rhythms with lively horns and percussion sections, including cow bells and timbales.

Its earliest origins are Cuban coupled with Spanish and African rhythms, and then adapted by Latin jazz musicians with pop, rock, and R & B thrown into the mix. Salsa dance evolved in Latino clubs in New York, but is one of the most popular dances everywhere today.

This dance style features break steps, spins, showy performance moves and drops, and solo moves called “Shines,” term borrowed from the world of tap dancing.
